Chronicles Part IV
Now
rid of Big Marcy, Little Marcy released a series of holiday themed solo albums
including: Easter with Marcy, Christmas
with Marcy, A Pagan Halloween with Marcy, The
National Frozen Food Month With Marcy, International Square Dancing Day With
Marcy, and Eat Country Ham Month
With Marcy, but by now it was glaringly apparent that the public was no
longer biting. For the first time in years, Marcy’s LP’s failed to chart.
There were endless speculations on the reasons for Little Marcy’s
downward turn; some felt that without Big Marcy, the act lost its family
appeal; Little Marcy's despicable character certainly got in her way, and many
were also turned off by Little Marcy’s extensive plastic surgery. Marcy
had her cherubic chubby cheeks pulled in, her eyelids and freckles removed,
her skin bleached and a Jacko-esque nose job that would later prove to be the
bane of her singing voice. But
even more disturbing was her renouncement of Christianity and her conversion
to Judaism. Her following LP, Oy
Gevalt! with Marcy was viewed as an affront by her Christian fans, and Pat
Robertson labelled her a “lost, vile, heathen – and probably also a filthy
lesbian.”
It
appeared that Little Marcy’s career was done like chopped liver. While
recording the unreleased, Torah! Torah!
Torah! With Marcy, the diminutive singer left the studio to get a pack of
cigarettes and wasn’t seen again for almost 10 years.

The
Elevator Hug
Here's a
link
to a little cartoon I volunteered to write for. It's a campaign for
a "Virtual Hug."
This virtual hug is meant to
help raise funds for Meagan’s Walk which raises funds to fight paediatric
brain tumours. Meagan’s Walk was started by Denise Bebenek after her 5 year
old daughter Meagan died of a brain tumour 6 years ago. Every year on
Mother’s Day, Denise leads thousands of people to hug SickKids where Meagan
had received such excellent care. This virtual hug remembers her love of
laughter and of hugs. If it makes you smile, I hope you will
consider sharing this virtual hug with your friends and maybe even
consider donating to this worthy cause.
