The public doesn't yet know the full story of New Jersey Gov. Jimmy (I Feel Pretty) McGreevey's resignation, which he announced on Thursday.

In their immediate reactions Thursday, some New Jersey residents sensed that things weren’t quite as they appeared with McGreevey’s announcement.

"I don’t care if the freaking guy’s a ‘set designer’” some New Jersey mob housewife said, “As long as he's freaking doing his freaking job, it shouldn't freaking make a freaking difference." She added, "As long as his freaking wife can freaking deal with it (McGreevey’s gay liaison), it shouldn't matter. Tell me how many people out there had an affair. The freaking president had one," she said, alluding to President Clinton... Or possibly Jefferson...

McGreevey himself said at one point in his statement, “It makes little difference that as governor I am gay. But then again, it’s also not something I used as a political platform. I guess that’s because when I think about it, I guess it does make a difference that I’m gay.”

Given his confession, there are some who wonder why he shouldn’t finish his term and make history as America’s first openly adulterous and gay governor.

When asked why he wouldn’t carry on, the governor (who has publicly opposed gay marriages) frowned and said, “only my hairdresser knows.”
